Olive wood manufacture in Tunisia

[100% Natural] The olive wood used for our products is a natural and renewable resource from Tunisia, where olive oil production is vital to the local economy. [Traditional] The olive tree is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the country and was already used and honored as a sanctuary in the times of the Berbers, Phoenicians (inhabitants of Carthage) and ancient Romans. The olive tree has always been a symbol of peace and a sign of victory. [ecological & sustainable] The processing of the wood is a long process. It has to dry and store for several years. The handmade olive wood products are made from the trunks of trees up to 1000 years old, which no longer bear fruit and have already been replaced by new more productive trees. It is a 100% natural material. The surfaces are sanded, oiled with olive oil and otherwise not treated further. The wood does not need to be varnished and is therefore very hygienic. Olive wood has a natural antiseptic effect due to the lignins and tannins it contains. It is also odor and stain resistant, making it ideal for use in the kitchen.
